Some people love the idea of camping, of being out in the wilderness with just a thin strip of fabric separating them from the Great Outdoors. Other people enjoy nature but prefer to sleep in a comfortable bed inside a solid structure. For those people, glamping is the best invention since sliced bread.
I’ve found some of the best Texas glamping spots, where you can surround yourself with luxurious amenities and still enjoy an incredible sunset, sit beside a campfire or watch deer wander across a field in the distance.
Camp Cold Springs

Steps away from the crystal-clear Frio River, Camp Cold Springs is the perfect year-round glamping getaway. Stay in one of its luxurious Getaway Cabins, which sleeps four, or gather the troops and rent one of the enormous four-bedroom modern cabins that sleep up to 20.
Either way, you can spend the warmer months swimming and paddling in the Frio River, then return in the fall to see the colors along the river and hike at nearby Garner and Lost Maples state parks. (Get a Texas State Parks Pass for free admission to Texas State Parks all year.) The resort also has a pool and hot tub, lawn games, fire pits and a riverside restaurant and bar.
Palo 32°
Located on an 88-acre ranch outside Strawn, Palo 32° takes the “glamorous” part of glamping very seriously. Its adults-only safari tents are designed for two, with real beds, climate control, full bathrooms with copper soaking tubs and plenty of private outdoor space.
Each tent also has its own heated and cooled plunge pool, so this is less “sleeping in a tent” and more “staying at a luxury hotel that happens to have canvas walls.” The tents are spaced apart for privacy, and the wide-open surroundings make it a great place to watch the sunset and stars.
While you’re in the area, head to nearby Cisco to hike through the abandoned Cisco Zoo. The old stone animal enclosures are still scattered along the trails, making it one of the strangest and most interesting hikes in Texas.
Camp Hideaway

Camp Hideaway Fredericksburg combines Hill Country views with luxury tents that are significantly nicer than most hotel rooms. The tents have comfortable beds, air conditioning, private bathrooms and covered porches where you can watch the sunrise or look for deer wandering through the property.
There’s also a resort-style pool for warmer days, plus fire pits and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy when the weather cools down. Camp Hideaway is just outside Fredericksburg, making it easy to spend the day exploring Main Street, hiking at Enchanted Rock or visiting Luckenbach before returning to a much quieter spot for the night.
Larger groups can skip the tents and book the Ranch House, which has four bedrooms, a private pool and even a miniature golf course in the backyard.
ParcBlu Fredericksburg

Just minutes from downtown Fredericksburg, ParcBlu has transformed shipping containers into colorful, modern cabins surrounded by peaceful Hill Country scenery. Each one has a private hot tub and rooftop deck, perfect for watching the sunset or stargazing after a day spent exploring town.
The property also has a shared pool, pickleball court, fire pits, hammocks and outdoor games like cornhole and bocce ball. Most cabins sleep two or three people, making this a fun option for a couples’ getaway or girls’ weekend.
Camp Fimfo

Camp Fimfo has two Texas locations, one in Waco and another in the Texas Hill Country near New Braunfels. Both feel more like outdoor resorts than campgrounds, with cabins, RV sites and tent sites surrounded by enough activities to keep a family entertained for an entire weekend without leaving the property.
Camp Fimfo Waco sits along the Bosque River and has furnished cabins that sleep groups of different sizes. Amenities include a resort-style pool with a swim-up bar, water slides, an interactive splash playground, hot tubs, miniature golf, pickleball, tennis, basketball, sand volleyball, laser tag, an arcade, lawn games, a jumping pillow, playgrounds, a fishing pond and kayak access. There’s also an on-site tavern, a general store and a rotating schedule of activities such as crafts, games and outdoor movies.
Camp Fimfo Texas Hill Country sits along the Guadalupe River and turns the resort concept up another notch. In addition to cabins, RV sites and tent camping, it has two resort pools, swim-up bars, water slides, an interactive water playground, hot tubs, miniature golf, pickleball, playgrounds, yard games and river access for swimming, tubing and fishing.
The Hill Country location is also home to the Cliff Carver, an alpine coaster that twists through the hills, and the Guadalupe Glider zipline across the river. There’s a ropes course, gem mining, multiple dining options, golf-cart rentals and enough scheduled activities that you may need a vacation after your vacation.

The yurts include bathrooms, kitchenettes and sitting areas, while some also have lofts with additional beds. For the full luxury experience, book the treehouse, which has multiple decks, a full kitchen, two levels and enough room for a group.

Lost Forest Cabins

Tucked inside Sam Houston National Forest, just over an hour from Houston, Lost Forest Cabins has ten beautiful A-frame cabins surrounded by towering pine trees. Each cabin has two bedrooms, a full kitchen, a private porch, a fire pit and hammocks where you can relax beneath the trees.
You can spend the day hiking or biking the trails, kayaking and paddleboarding on the pond, fishing, riding the forest gliders or trying the bow range. Some of the cabins are pet-friendly, and each one sleeps four to six people, making this an easy nature getaway for families, friends or anyone who wants the forest without having to sleep on the ground.
Each of these Texas glamping spots offers a completely different way to enjoy the outdoors without giving up a comfortable bed, private bathroom or air conditioning. Whether you’re planning a family vacation, romantic getaway or girls’ trip, Texas glamping makes it easy to enjoy nature without actually having to rough it.
