This stay was hosted but the reviews and opinions are entirely my own.
So you’re planning a trip and wondering where to stay in Nacogdoches. Well, you’re in for a treat, and not only because there’s so much to do in Nacogdoches, but because you’ll get to stay at the historic Fredonia Hotel!
The original Fredonia Inn was built in the 1950’s by the people of Nacogdoches. It was restored recently and reopened as the Fredonia Hotel, a beautiful boutique hotel with plenty of amenities to keep you occupied during your stay.
The Fredonia Hotel is right in the heart of historic downtown Nacogdoches, which means you’re within walking distance of all the cutest shops, and tons of history. But there’s also plenty to do at the hotel itself if you just want a chill day at the hotel.
Fredonia Hotel Amenities
Pools
Even though it’s technically a ‘city hotel’, once you enter the property, you feel as though you’re at a resort, with two different pools in two separate areas of the hotel.
The first pool is a heated pool on an expansive terrace right outside some of the rooms. We spent every evening during our December visit enjoying the delicious warmth of this pool.
The second pool, called the Cabana Pool is in a circular enclosure surrounded by the historic tower and additional hotel rooms, aptly named Cabana Rooms. This pool is right near the hotel bar and cafe. Because it’s not heated, it’s probably the ideal pool for those hot summer days.
Movies at the Pool
Our absolute favorite part of the hotel was the nightly movies, from 7 PM to 10 PM. The giant projector screen is located on the terrace, so you can relax in the heated pool and enjoy the movie.
If you’re quick enough, you can call the front desk and request any movie on Netflix (rated PG or lower). You can bet our kids got on the phone as soon as they heard that!
Firepits
Both pool areas have a firepit and tables, making it the perfect spot to relax in the evenings.
Food & Drink
The hotel features a cafe (with room service), a steakhouse, and the Nine Flags Bar & Grill, named for the nine flags that have flown over Nacogdoches.
The Fredonia Hotel Rooms
The rooms themselves are spacious and comfortable, with a mid-century vibe. You can choose from Cabana Rooms, located near the restaurants and with a view of the Cabana pool, Terrace rooms, located near the heated Terrace Pool and picnic area, or Tower rooms, located in the historic main tower.
We stayed in a Terrace room, which had a motel-y vibe, with all the rooms accessible via an outdoor walkway.
If you’re looking for a place to stay at Nacogdoches, you won’t find a better place than the Fredonia Hotel! We found the hotel to have everything we could have wanted for our visit to Nacogdoches, and the fact that it was within walking distance to so many attractions was a huge plus.
