Leona Drug Store

Leona Drugstore

Leona Drugstore, despite its name, is not a drugstore at all. It was, however, a pharmacy back at the turn of the 20th century. The current owner, having heard stories of his grandfather visiting the drugstore in his youth, purchased the building in 2008 and chose to restore the building to look just as it did in the 20’s. Stepping inside, you feel as though you’ve stepped back in time.

Instead of dispensing medicine, Leona Drugstore sells fountain sodas and ice cream sundaes, surrounded by 1920’s nostalgic decor and memorabilia. Sodas are served from a fountain, and they serve everything that would have been served in the 1920s, including shakes, malts, phosphates, floats, banana splits, hot fudge, limeades, and sodas—all mixed as in the 1920s.

Location

Leona Drugstore is located in Leona, TX, about two hours north of Houston. It’s about halfway between Dallas and Houston, making it a perfect stop if you’re traveling between the two cities.
