If you’re looking for an affordable, trendy hotel right in the heart of Austin, look no further than Austin Motel. This adorable retro hotel first opened its doors in 1938, so you feel as though you’re staying at a little piece of history. The rooms, however, have been completely remodeled with bright colors and trendy patterns that modernize the experience while still retaining the mid-century modern feel.
One of our favorite things about staying here was the location. Situated on South Congress Avenue, Austin Motel is literally minutes from all of Austin’s top attractions. We spent three action-packed days here and everything we did was so easily accessed from our base.
The hotel has a really cute bean-shaped pool, complete with a poolside bar. The pool is accessed from the rooms through a beautiful leafy walkway, or from the front office through what used to be the motor court back in the day. If you just want to visit the pool, the hotel sells day passes.
The front office also doubles as a cute little shop selling Austin Motel merch and necessities.
Just outside the pool is a really pretty patio with tables and chairs and even some lawn games. We appreciated the misters during our June stay.
Our room itself totally felt like an updated version of an old 1940s motel room. I absolutely loved the wallpaper which really upgraded the whole feel of the room.
Rates start at just $127 a night, so if you’re looking for an affordable Austin hotel, definitely check out Austin Motel.
